A selective and differential medium for the selection of Gram-negative bacteria and differentiation of lactose and non-lactose fermenting organisms. Lactose fermenting organisms produce colored colonies while non-lactose fermenting organisms grow as colorless colonies. E. coli colonies display a characteristic green sheen aiding in identification.
